Spaces for Socialising and Creativity

Thecultural centres of the Škofja Loka area are places where all generations come together, united by a love of culture, music and creativity. Every summer the Sokolski Dom cultural centre in Škofja Loka hosts a varied programme of events, workshops and festivals.

Festivals and Theatres

Taking place in the last week of August, the Pisana Loka (Colourful Loka) festival brings colour to the town’s streets and squares and fills them with light and music, while Loka Castle hosts Diskölöka throughout the festival week. The Loški Oder theatre company has a tradition dating back a century. The Kino Sora cinema shows a mix of blockbusters and independent films. The traditional Cinema Above the Town event takes place each August on the library terrace.

Sokol Home

The carefully restored building, dedicated to culture, is the cultural centre of Škofja Loka. This is a place where lovers of culture meet, events are held, and culture thrives.

Loka Stage

The Loka Stage is a theatre with a more than century-old tradition, where every year a number of world and Slovene dramas are staged.

Sora Cinema

Since 2014 the Sora Cinema has a new image and digital equipment which enables the screening of the latest films, including in 3D.

The Sora Cinema is a member of the Europa Cinemas and the Art Cinema Networks, which is a guarantee that it screens quality and art films.
