Slovenia Green

The Green Scheme of Slovenia Tourism is a national program and certification scheme that, under the sustainability brand SLOVENIA GREEN:

- unites all efforts for the sustainable development of tourism in Slovenia,

- offers destinations and providers concrete tools for assessing and improving their sustainable perfomance,

- promotes these green activities through the Slovenia Green brand.

The Municipality of Škofja Loka joined the Slovenia Green scheme in 2017. In 2024, it renewed its label for the second time, this time according to the more demanding Slovenia Green standard, and was awarded the bronze label.

In the municipality of Škofja Loka, we regularly monitor environmental, economic, and socio-cultural indicators.

In 2025, the number of overnight stays increased by 18% compared to the previous year. A trend of extending the tourist season is emerging, with the highest growth in guest arrivals recorded in October (+56%) and January (+37%). A positive trend is also notable in September, where arrivals increased by 31% and overnight stays by 37%. Nevertheless, the summer months (June, July, and August) remain the strongest part of the tourist season.
